NightFINDER™ LED Systems

Infrared(IR) LEDs added to searchlights, project an invisible beam, unseen by the human eye, but seen with lowlight cameras and night vision goggles.  Unlike thermal cameras, the IR beam will allow operators to covertly read numbers and letters on vessels, identify flags, penetrate glass, and provide a clearer crisper video image.  IR Illuminators do not necessarily replace thermal cameras, but rather provide the operator with additional night vision capabilities.

External IR LEDs added to Xenon and Halogen searchlights provide night vision capabilities and “field upgrades” available.

Internal LEDs provide an “built-in” night vision system.  Offered on 12inch and 19inch models.

IR Illumination vs. Thermal

IR Illuminators provide additional covert capabilities not provided by Thermal Cameras…

  • Identifies Letters, Numbers and Flags on vessels
  • Penetrates glass thereby seeing into pilothouse windows
  • Provides clearer crisper video image, beneficial for reducing liability, when recording nighttime incidents and events
  • Enhances Night Vision Goggles and Lowlight Cameras on dark cloudy nights
  • IR Beam acts as “Covert Targeting Device” to quickly light up target (see Exhibit A below)
  • Provides covert surveillance for Lowlight Cameras within FLIR® Systems
  • Provides greater identification of objects with no heat signature, such as firearms and floating debris in the water (logs, ice, etc.)
  • If paired with a lowlight camera, the lowlight camera will have a clear high resolution color image during the daytime, as well see in total darkness at night
